Writer Kyle Lukoff will join us Wed, March 26 to discuss his brand-new middle grade novel

This month is going to be a tender one.

What’s that saying? March comes in like a lion and out like a Trans Day of Visibility in the middle of a culture war. No?

I told you all that I started the Being Alive Book Club in order to convince friends to read about Sarah McBride with me—but if I’m being honest, I might have created this whole enterprise just to celebrate my buddy Kyle Lukoff who just released his latest: the brilliant, hopeful, brand-new middle grade novel A World Worth Saving.

You’ll have to wait until next week for a run down of Kyle’s many, many wonderul books and awards. I might even throw in the story of our transman meet-cute. Wink.

Here’s what you need to know now:
Being Alive Book Club reads A World Worth Saving

A World Worth Saving is a page-turning adventure story about a 14-year-old transgender boy harnessing Jewish supernatural forces to fight transphobia and save his friends. You read that right. It’s so good. You are going to fall in love with A, even as your heart breaks at how timely this book is.

Not convinced? How about this back cover quote from Percy Jackson’s Rick Riordan? “Rare and beautiful—a novel that combines wondrous fantasy, searing real-world relevance, and a frank empathetic understanding of the adolescent experience.”

I recently had the delight of attending one of Kyle’s book launch events in NYC. (Shout out to Books of Wonder.) Not only did I get this pic of two Kyles in front of a lot of books—I got a book for one of you!
