dispatch 031 // the fifty two fridays of 2018. #tgif
Greetings!
Hope you all are having a lovely holiday break.
Yesterday, as my kid intermittently snoozed in the backseat, I drove up 95 and thought about Friday.
What was I going to do with myself after I dropped her off with her mom following a solid week together? Errands? Laundry? Movie? Nap? All of the above? How should I spend my last Friday of 2018...? How have I spent all the Fridays this year...?
Cue reflection rewind. Definitely some memorable highlights: mornings at the bakery before school drop-off, flights to Sundance and France, cocktails on rooftops, dinners with friends, road trips to visit family... Taylor Swift! Erasure! Incredibly, over 10% of them spent with my brother (despite him living 3,000 miles away).
But, also... a lot of quiet, not-quite-content, nights at home soul searching.
So I spent my final Friday of 2018 meditating on all the Fridays...
The year started with a new apartment and ended with a new job.
New friends emerged, some very dear ones departed.
My kid continued to amaze and delight.
And I learned to be (more) comfortable being alone.
Grateful to each of you for the love and encouragement during this year of reinvention...
May the new year bring you good times and the world some healing.
See you on the other side.
love,
Kyle
