Hi Kyle, thanks for sharing your process. It’s very inspiring. I am also writing a memoir, also parenting my child, also living as a trans person in the US.

And if I am not wrong, also living in BK not far from you. Happy to be accountable memoir buddy if you are interested!

This was a perfect read for starting the New Year. Particularly since one of my projects is to convert all family research that I currently have in 3 ring notebooks into archival boxes. And yes, I heard your mother's voice loud and clear. Give her my regards.

Love that you are doing this and look forward to following the process. However long it takes (as someone who takes a looong time on projects) ... sending lots of support and encouragement!

Did you read the New Yorker interview with Masha Gessen about their trans identity experience? As a fan of both of you, I'd love to know what you thought and how you felt about it.

Also, when I'm feeling stuck as a writer, I re-read Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird (or, tbh, anything by her) and Mary Pipher's book, Writing to Save the World, which inspired me to write my blog. Even if Dr. Pipher's books haven't (yet) saved the world, they've saved me.

Thanks, Angela.

Masha's interview with David Remnick is moving. As his their conversation with Lydia Polgreen. I'll post both shortly.

Thank you for the Lamott and Dr. Pipher recommendations. I'll check out both.

trans person + being a parent = a transperson who is parenting (nothing about who you are parenting) right? what else is going on? what kind of boxes are you using? what's the storage unit like? where'd you find your Twyla Tharp book?

All good questions! The storage unit is clean, easy to access, and full of stackable plastic bins full of ephemera. Not sure where I bought the Twyla, but it's been a staple on my shelf for maybe 20 years? It's a good one, along with her sequel The Collaborative Habit.
